I was informed from Bud Taylor that Bob Foss passed away.

He dies Friday 11/11/2022 at home. He had fought cancer a few years ago and won,

but this time it beat him.  He will be missed by us all. RIP my friend.

Robert Royce Foss, 91, passed away on November 11, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1627 Grand Ave, West Des Moines). Visitation will begin at 9:30 am until service time on Thursday.

Robert was born to Roy and Emma (Wahe) Foss on February 25, 1931, in Adair, IA. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Adair High School in 1949 and served in the US Navy from 1950-1954, where he manned military planes during the Korean War, where he received the Air Medal for his 20 aerial flights during 1952-1953 with Patrol Squadron 40.

On December 5, 1953, Robert married Martha Dilks at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Chula Vista, CA. After leaving the service, Robert worked at the US Postal Service until 1986. He retired from the Naval Reserves in 1990. Robert was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus, and the church choir. He kept busy in retirement working part-time jobs and enjoying his family.

Robert is survived by his wife, Martha of 68 years; daughters Debbie Foss of Waukee and Janet (Dan) Dylla of Wells, MN; grandchildren, Whitney (Mike) Sheely of Mapleton, MN, Dustin (Kristie) Dylla of Wells, MN, William (Crystal) Hummer of Kansas City, MO, and Alexxis Hummer of Missouri; great-grandchildren Charlotte, Elsie & Emma Sheely, Peyton & Kacie Dylla, Karson Herston, Madison & William Jr. Hummer; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a very special cat named Snickers.
