I was on the ramp on NAS, North Island tp watch Capt Smolinski and a VRF-32 crew make the takeoff of QE-10 off San Diego bay. It was especially meaningful to me as I was Plane Captain of QE-6,7 and 10 with VP-40 in 1959 through most of 1961.
